Brief

I was using some kind of Multi-Amplifier configuration, last one was Digital-Mod DCX2496 and 3 SA-XR55. this full digital configuration was great, but I wanted more.
TacT or DEQX are too expensive. now DIY.

requirement
  1. Full Digital, 4 way crossover
  2. 4 x full digital amplifier
  3. volume control
  4. some equalization
Texas Instruments TAS5518 (PWM controller) and TAS52xx  (Power stage) will work fine.

Ver.01

thumnail

TI's evaluation board. I tried to control this board through Parallel port of PC.

Ver.02

I made PCB, and controll program was moved to JackRabbit MCU.
There are 2 power supply, for controll voltage and amplification voltage.

Ver.03

added LCD (serial and Key control), also programmable voltage supply using LM317 and analog switch.

Ver.04

MCU + LCD, Key was moved to AVR development board.

Ver.05

By TAS5142 and compact L, configuration is now 1 board + LCD/Key.
Boxed with ordered panels.

Ver. 06

Discrete Power Supply

I compared Ver 04 (LM317 Linear Regulator power supply) and 05 (TPS40056 switching power supply) and found I like previous version.
then I tried below.

Quick Patch for Ver 05 and LM317 linear regulator. ....VERY nice..

I should try this discrete power supply.
Schematic

Spice says ripple rejection ratio will be -86dB /1kHz. maybe better than LM317.
Board / Parts ordered 12/02/07.

Testing discrete power supply.
Voltage can be controlled from AVR.
I looked around to find some noise signal, but nothing found.
Silky, and warm, but powerful. Rock solid voltage supply. Fully satisfied.

Summary

Compact 4 way crossover and full digital amplifier
8 digital inputs
volume control with supply voltage control
